GNC is seeking a detail-oriented and data-driven Associate Category Merchant to support our Merchandising team. This role will play a key part in managing product assortments, analyzing category performance, supporting vendor relationships, and helping drive strategic growth within assigned categories. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, a passion for product and trends, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do:

This is a Full-Time Salary Position

The Associate Category Merchant, Food and Drink is responsible for developing and executing a profitable, customer-focused merchandising and assortment strategy, utilizing core merchandising competencies. This person is responsible for the assigned specific strategic, merchandise categories; they have responsibility for attaining budgeted sales and gross margin within the category. The position operates within the Merchandising and collaborates with the cross functional teams supporting the business including product development, science, store operations, marketing, pricing, finance, legal and inventory planning.

  • Develops and manages assortment across national brands and GNC proprietary brands using industry and consumer insights to develop customer-focused merchandising strategies.
  • Manages the Lifecycle for all of the products in the category.
  • Ability to develop deep understanding of category performance, perform category reviews and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Develop category wide merchandising strategies including in store merchandising, marketing and promotional planning and advertising.
  • Builds Visual Merchandising Strategy and eCommerce experience that will support the sales, margin and turn objectives.
  • Manages and builds vendor relationship; establishes and maintains effective vendor partnerships that strengthen industry relationships as well as product and trend knowledge.
  • Monitors and analyzes competitive landscape to identify new trends and opportunities, evaluates merchandise assortments, evaluates competitive pricing, and translates findings into executable tactics to ensure competitiveness.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with cross functional teams.
  • Cross functional collaboration across marketing, store operations, finance, training, and other areas of the company.
  • Works closely with product development and science teams to develop innovative, high quality and best in class proprietary GNC brands and products.
  • Prepare and present business plans to cross functional teams, peers, and executive leadership teams.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Environmental Factors & Working Schedule:

  • Hybrid work environment, 2-3 days in-person attendance (Pittsburgh, PA) in addition to ability to work remotely.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include long periods of computer screen usage, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
  • 3-5 years progressive merchandise experience required
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
