Job Purpose: The dietitian/nutritionist will provide comprehensive, evidence-based nutrition care services to patients of the practice. The clinical outpatient dietitian/nutritionist will competently conduct assessments, develop care plans utilizing the nutrition care process, monitor ongoing medical conditions, and provide nutrition education and counseling. The clinical dietitian/nutritionist will provide appropriate nutrition services to individual patients and their families, while maintaining awareness of behavior change models. Additionally, the dietitian/nutritionist will collaborate with team members to ensure ongoing program development and identify the educational and nutritional needs of patients with medically related conditions.
Education and Experience
Credentialed in good standing with the Commission on Dietetics Registration
North Carolina Licensed dietitian/nutritionist
Experience in one-on-one patient counseling required
Experience working in an outpatient setting and/or with wellness coaching.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and proficiency in current, evidence-based methods of medical nutrition therapy for chronic conditions, with an emphasis on health promotion and disease risk reduction
Knowledge of behavioral change theories such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Superior leadership, organization, research, evaluation, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in the use of body composition assessment tools, electronic scales, and in the use of computer software, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desire and ability to update knowledge and skills through various means, including technology-based opportunities, courses, workshops, and conferences
Multi-tasking skills related to delivering efficient nutritional care, including the ability to share information effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to gain knowledge of the goals and structure of the practice, including its policies and procedures, and the programs it provides
Previous experience with nutritional analysis software is valuable, but not essential.
You'll need to have previous experience with electronic health records.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Professionally represent the practice at all times
Language Skills:
Ability to communicate well in writing and in person. Ability to read and interpret common medical, billing, and business terminology. Excellent interpersonal skills
