Job Description

Professional Search Group has partnered with a company seeking an experienced Project Estimator. This position is responsible for estimating projects from initial take-offs to bid closing, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company policies and procedures. The role includes close collaboration with various teams to support successful bid preparation and project execution.

Estimator Key Responsibilities:

  • Review bid documents, addendums, proposals, specifications, and drawings to determine scope of work and project requirements.
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs, including pricing and breakdown of labor, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Source and procure subcontractors, suppliers, specialized equipment, and manufacturers as needed.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals, ensuring scope alignment and qualification.
  • Conduct site visits for due diligence and inspection as necessary.
  • Coordinate bid documentation, Good Faith Efforts (GFE), and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirements, ensuring timely bid delivery and closure with the Bid Coordinator.
  • Oversee proper listing and selection of subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Estimator during the bid closing process.
  • Prepare project budgets for captured projects.
  • Lead final analysis and negotiations with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Prepare a comprehensive Bid Book for handoff to the project manager.
  • Maintain original bid plans for reference throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the General Superintendent, Project Management, and VP of Operations.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Estimator Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in computer programs, including Word, Excel, HCSS (or similar estimating software), and P6 (or similar scheduling software).
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, industry standards, and public works bidding regulations.
  • Familiarity with Federal and State laws and codes for public works projects.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with strong leadership abilities.
