Mechanical Estimator or Senior Estimator (Tempe, AZ – Hybrid Option Available)

Overview:

A leading mechanical contractor based in Tempe is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator (open to Senior level) to join their team. This individual will play a key role in developing accurate and competitive estimates for both large and small mechanical and piping projects across commercial and industrial sectors. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical systems—HVAC, plumbing, and process piping—and enjoys working in a collaborative environment with project managers, engineers, and field teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for mechanical and piping projects ranging from small tenant improvements to large industrial and institutional builds.
• Review project plans, specifications, and scope documents to identify required materials, labor, and subcontractor participation.
• Develop cost breakdowns, quantity takeoffs, and budgets for mechanical and piping systems.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field operations during preconstruction and project turnover.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure accurate cost representation.
• Assist in developing proposals, value engineering options, and project schedules.
• Participate in bid reviews and post-bid negotiations as needed.
• Stay current with market pricing, materials, and labor trends to ensure competitive bids.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical construction estimating (HVAC, plumbing, or piping).
• Proven experience preparing estimates for projects of varying sizes and complexities.
• Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction methods.
• Proficiency with estimating software (such as Trimble, FastPIPE, QuoteSoft, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while collaborating across teams.
