Senior Manager of Events

Location: New York City

Salary Range: $75,000

Full-Time | 4 days onsite/ one day remote

LHH is conducting a search on behalf of our client, a mission-driven cultural and historical nonprofit organization based in New York City. This organization is dedicated to preserving and sharing diverse cultural narratives through public programming, exhibitions, and community engagement.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Manager of Events to lead a dynamic team responsible for delivering exceptional experiences to guests and event participants. This role blends operational leadership, event production, and visitor services in a high-profile, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Event Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the planning and execution of a wide range of events including rentals, film screenings, book talks, panels, and concerts.
  • Oversee intake, contract negotiation, vendor coordination, and on-site logistics.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration across departments including AV, security, and facilities.
  • Cultivate relationships with external organizations, nonprofits, and corporate partners to drive rental revenue and engagement.
  • Manage a team of 3–5 direct reports including AV and event staff.
  • Maintain high standards for guest experience, especially for events involving public figures and dignitaries.

Visitor Experience Leadership

  • Supervise front-of-house operations including ticketing, coat check, and reception.
  • Optimize staffing schedules and team utilization to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Provide mentorship and performance management for visitor services staff.
  • Innovate and implement strategies to enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align visitor services with events, community engagement, and donor relations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in event production, venue operations, or visitor experience management.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with a track record of managing diverse teams.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with AV operations and event technology is a plus.
  • Passion for cultural programming and mission-driven work.
  • Comfortable working evenings and weekends as needed.
