SENIOR FINANCE MANAGER

Partner to the COO, Build Scalable Finance Ops for a High-Growth Sports Brand

We are a rapidly growing yet nimble company who constantly seeks to innovate, and we are currently looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Finance Manager to lead our finance team.

 

What you’ll do.

The Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for leading the financial strategy and day-to-day financial operations at Guardian Sports. This includes budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cost management, treasury management, and strategic financial initiatives. The role requires an experienced leader capable of driving both tactical and strategic financial activities, with a focus on achieving business goals and ensuring financial sustainability.

· Lead, Manage & Accountability – Lead the finance team, ensuring efficient and accurate financial operations, while maintaining accountability for overall financial performance. Provide leadership and direction to drive financial results and manage resources effectively.

· Process Improvement – Lead the finance team in improving financial processes, including cash conversion cycles, reconciliation automations, collections improvements, and treasury management.

· Budgeting & Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) – Prepare & deliver budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans. Ensure that financial goals are aligned with business objectives and provide timely insights into financial performance.

· Cost Savings – Identify areas for cost savings across the organization, driving efficiency initiatives and managing expenses effectively to optimize profitability.

· Commission Reports – Oversee the preparation of sensitive financial and payroll data, ensuring that it is accurate and aligned with company performance metrics and incentive structures.

· Tax Planning – Lead tax planning initiatives, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with tax regulations while optimizing tax liabilities.

· Capital Expenditures (CapEx) & Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) – Lead the financial planning and analysis for CapEx projects and any M&A activities, ensuring that investments align with strategic goals and provide long-term value to the company.

· Insurance – Oversee the management and renewal of the company’s insurance policies, ensuring appropriate coverage and cost control.

· Audits – Lead and manage the annual audit process, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards and overseeing relationships with external auditors.

· Accounting Software – QuickBooks Enterprise.

· Order Processing & Tax – Shopify & Tax Connex.

· Analytics – Excel, PowerPoint, & Power BI.

Who you are.

· BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field; MBA, CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

· Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in financial management, either within the sports industry, for an E-Commerce business, or in banking.

· Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

· Strong background in managing cost-saving initiatives and operational efficiency.

· Extensive experience in managing tax planning, royalty payments, and commission structures.

· Experience with CapEx, M&A, and strategic financial projects.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Strong strategic thinking with an ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.

· Experience with financial software systems and ERP platforms.

· A passion for sports and an understanding of the sports industry dynamics is a plus.

· Led and managed a high-performing finance team, driving accountability and ensuring efficient financial operations across the organization.

· Developed and implemented comprehensive annual budgets and long-term financial strategies that contributed to sustainable growth.

· Established and maintained robust financial reporting dashboards, providing real-time insights on key performance indicators to senior leadership.

· Identified and executed cost-saving initiatives, achieving significant reductions in operational expenses while maintaining business performance.

· Directed financial assessments of CapEx projects and M&A opportunities, ensuring strategic investments aligned with long-term company goals. 

· Having worked for a family-owned business or managed multiple businesses under a single holding company is a plus.
