JOB INFORMATION
The Specialty Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting licensed pharmacists with the clerical duties associated with managing the pharmacy. Additionally, technicians will accurately bill, prepare, and package prescriptions for verification by a pharmacist.
JOB SUMMARY
The Specialty Pharmacy Technician ensures that the pharmacy operates safely and efficiently. Duties include: maintaining patient records, preparing and processing prescriptions, answering telephone calls, communicating with patients, payors, and healthcare providers, inventory management, shipping, and patient services. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician must be accurate and meticulous to avoid possible errors and ensure safety. They must be able to work under stressful conditions and communicate clearly and accurately.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior, experienced pharmacy technicians may be asked to supervise newly hired technicians or pharmacy students.
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a pharmacy technician is preferred and licensure as a Pharmacy Technician by the state of Michigan is required.
Specialty Pharmacy Technicians need to be detailed-oriented and have good verbal and written communication skills as well as customer service skills. Good computer skills and insurance billing skills are required. The technician should be sociable, reliable and able to work in a structured environment. The Specialty
Pharmacy Technician must be able to work efficiently and accurately, following detailed instructions.

The Specialty Pharmacy Technician must be able to spend most of the day standing, walking, or bending and lifting as required if assigned the Inventory Fulfillment area.
