Job Description
The Training and Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting Flagship client satisfaction and employee success. This includes facilitating new hire training for lab roles, meeting with clients to identify areas for improvement, identifying employee skill sets and gaps relative to client needs and expectations, as well as supporting client start-up and managing employee compliance training. Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, the Training Specialist works collaboratively with the Flagship Executive, Operations, Safety, Sales and Human Resources teams.
This is a hybrid role based in our Somerville/Boston office. The Training Specialist may need to travel up to 15% of the time.

Travel
- Position based in Somerville/Boston office with expectation to travel to client sites in personal vehicle.
Essential Functions:
- Deliver and support New Hire Orientations including the Life Science Technician (LST™) Bootcamp
- Work in LMS to assign, complete and troubleshoot employee training issues
- Working with VP of Business Development, VP of Lab Services, and Operations teams, meet with current and prospective client(s) to understand their lab support requirements and staffing needs. Identify Life Sciences Technicians (LST™) with the appropriate skill sets to fill those assignments.
- Maintain communications with and escalate issues and/or requests to Operations team for client or employee concerns.
- Work with clients and account team to identify, establish and oversee skills assessments, technical, and client communication training requirements.
- Work with Learning and Development Team on ongoing process improvement in Lab Services, bring ideas and best practices to the Executive Team, and support ongoing SOP development and maintenance.
- Quickly respond to client/employee needs with necessary technical and client communications training and development opportunities.
- Working with Operations and HR to support ongoing development of the LST™, LSFT™, LSFE™, LSFM™ trademarked programming.
- Support new hire retention with onsite visit once a month of an employee(s)’ first 90 days.
- Support new hire staffing review meetings with operations teams; provide feedback on new hires; and provide ideas for cross training/additional training of technicians, as required
- Provide on-the-job technical training and mentoring.
- Identify specific positions and talent requirements for new hires; coordinate with Executive Leadership on new hire requirements; assist with review of recruits and job descriptions as required
- Support supervisors and team leaders to provide leadership, mentorship and training as required for them to perform their respective duties
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience. Advanced or professional degree(s) preferred.
- Minimum two (2) plus years work experience in one or more of the following settings: laboratory, Life Sciences Support Services, Facilities Management/Maintenance and/or Construction.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions, and to complete tasks and paperwork without supervision.
- Ability to communicate swiftly and efficiently through email and text
- Basic computer skills (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Must possess a CLEAN driver’s license and have a vehicle to make it to and from work sites
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
Physical Qualification:
- Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools and to perform patch/paint work.
- Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform repairs, use ladder, and perform various types of manual labor.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more.
- Vision (with correction) sufficient for reading, performing repairs and painting.
- Prolonged and frequent periods of driving

- This is a full-time non-exempt position. Days and hours of work vary according to the business demands, but the typical schedule would be Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.
