Job Description

Colonial Life has been a leader of the Voluntary Benefits space for 85 years. Broker business accounts for 70% of Colonial Life sales and we are looking for a partner who is a strategic relationship-builder with a passion for expanding markets. This person should be self-motivated and eager to lead the charge in cultivating and growing our broker channel.

About the Role:

As a Broker Development Manager, you’ll play a critical role in the expansion of Colonial Life’s voluntary benefits portfolio by developing strategic broker partnerships. You will be the key connector between our brand and both small and large house brokers, ensuring alignment in strategy, product knowledge, and client success.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect & Manager broker relationships and general agencies
  • Train brokers on Colonial Life’s products, enrollment solutions, and value propositions
  • Develop and execute broker growth strategies to drive premium production
  • Foster long-term relationships to increase broker engagement and retention
  • Collaborate with Territory Sales Managers and field offices to optimize enrollment outcomes
  • Provide ongoing field support including joint client visits, presentations, and proposals
  • Monitor client performance & pipeline and provide regular updates to leadership

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in B2B sales, employee benefits, or insurance brokerage
  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and grow strategic partnerships
  • Strong communication, coaching, and negotiation skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Life & Health insurance license
  • Familiarity with voluntary benefits or supplemental insurance is a plus
