Educational Director

German-American School Manhattan is accepting applications for the position of Early Childhood Education/Teaching Director. Our ideal Education/Teaching Director has strong leadership skills, an excellent communicator, collaborative and can motivate and inspire others. The responsibilities include: overseeing class teaching, curriculum development and planning and teaching. You will develop strong relationships with our families; have a positive and upbeat attitude; highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills and a strong commitment to education. GSM is looking for an education/teaching director who is motivated, caring, creative and above all loves spending time with children. 

About GSM

GSM is a German-English dual immersion Preschool & Lower School in the heart of Tribeca, NYC. The school is accepting students starting at 2 years in the Preschool, as well as Elementary Grades K-5. The unique offering of the school is a transdisciplinary program of inquiry (POI), that organizes and optimizes bilingual learning. The standards for core subjects (German, English & Math) have been reinforced by using the most comprehensive assessment tools. Being guided by the IB curriculum framework allows GSM to stay true to their original mission to prioritize socio-emotional learning and celebrate a global mindset while adhering to the highest internationally benchmarked academic standards. As a young school (founded in 2018), GSM is proud to be an official IB World School authorized to teach the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification (minimum Birth to 2)
• 3-5 years of full-time experience as an education/teaching director of a pre-school
• Minimum BA/BS in Education (Master’s degree is preferred)
• Strong computer, verbal and written communication skills
• GSM Pre-School program is located in Tribeca, Downtown Manhattan
• Highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
• Deep love for children and a strong commitment to education
• Knowledgeable of Article 47 and other NYC Department of Health licensing/credentialing issues
• Knowledgeable of NYC private schools’ admissions and DOE/MySchools admissions
• Strong computer, verbal and written communication skills
• Work with team
