Job Description

The DeKalb County School District is seeking an experienced and professional Specialist II, Menu & Marketing Compliance.

Specialist II, Menu & Marketing Compliance:

Provides leadership in menu planning, menu analysis, and nutrition education for the students at DeKalb County School District.

Essential Functions

• Plans district menus that meet USDA meal patterns and nutritional requirements within established budgetary constraints.
• Develops and implement nutrition marketing plans designed to increase nutritional integrity, meal participation, and public awareness of the educational benefits of school meals in a classroom setting.
• Assists with planning and organizing activities related to menu planning, food procurement, product testing, the product holds and/or recalls, and utilization of USDA commodities.
• Maintains the nutritional data collection, entering ingredients and recipes into the nutrient analysis software database including the coordination of production records that meet USDA regulations, testing recipes for quality and yield, and monitoring food usage to assure adequate supply.
• Assists in the coordination of the Annual District Taste Testing, and analyzes results before district launch of new menu items
• Maintains database of all special diets and assists with developing modified diets based on physician’s order.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Culinary Arts, Marketing or closely related field from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of food service or related experience, or any equivalent combination of Nutritionrelated training and experience required. Leadership experience preferred.
• ServSafe Certification or completion of the certification within 90 days of employment and renewed every five years required.
• Registered dietitian preferred.
