The Purchasing Agent/Buyer is responsible for implementing and executing the company’s strategic purchasing initiatives. This position prepares and executes purchase orders to meet the demand for customer requirements and negotiates supplier pricing, terms and specifications as required. In addition, the selected individual creates and maintains optimal inventory levels for the enterprise.

Ideal candidate must have 2-3 years of related specific industry work experience, and fully understand the Wholesale, supply store, HVAC supply chain business model. Ideal candidates have previous experience interfacing with plumbing equipment manufacturers to include Kohler, Moen, Cal Faucet, Delta, Elkay, and other prominent HVAC manufacturers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages purchase orders and expedites to ensure the timely delivery of materials, in support of operations to meet customer delivery requirements
  • Achieve aggressive continuous improvement objectives in cost, lead time, quality, and other performance requirements
  • Oversees pricing/invoicing consistency
  • Develops supply agreements with key supplier partners
  • Actively assume a sourcing lead role in commodity spend that comes with the assigned segmentation
  • Meet cost reduction initiatives
  • Advise Supply Chain Director on factors that may affect supplier’s ability to meet schedules
  • Communicate Supply Chain related issues between the Purchasing department and all other departments throughout the organization
  • Creates daily forecasting reports for optimal inventory levels
  • Develops scorecard reporting activities
  • Coordinate with Branch Managers to develop and maintain process for inventory additions

Candidate Requirements:

  • 2+ years Supply Chain/Purchasing/Buying background with significant supplier management and strategic purchasing experience
  • Previous experience includes buying decorative plumbing fixtures from the industry leading manufacturers
  • Ability to work with little supervision, prioritize tasks and track multiple processes
  • Ability to collate information, analyze supplier cost positions, inventory/planning strategies, and make decisions based on experience
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft software; Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Advanced Excel skills including formula creation, V-Look up, Pivot tables etc. is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working in a wholesale distribution ERP environment.
  • Ability to purchase up to $50,000 of product from (1) vendor without approval from Purchasing Manager
